Charlie Clarke began playing piano at the age of 12. By age 16 he was a regular organist and pianist at church as well as joining local rock bands.
Charlie continued to study music in college at both Berklee College of Music in Boston and Rutgers University. His teachers included such reknowned jazz greats as Kenny Baron, Frank Foster, and Paul Jeffries, as well as masters of classical composition and counterpoint Nicholas Rousakis (composer and founder of the American Composers Orchestra) and Noel DaCosta.
Charlie performs regularly with his duo plus a number of other musical projects: the Clarke Brothers Organ Trio along with his brother and noted jazz guitarist Doug Clarke, and Jazz Noir, a quintet performing musical tributes to reknowned American Songbook Composers as well as classic jazz standards.
